Six years ago, a dog named Stanley joined his family when they adopted him. Since the moment he came home, he has been a very goofy dog. Stanley loves to be outside, and really enjoys running around in the backyard of his family’s home with his other rescued greyhound siblings. Stanley also loves to sing songs with his dad and his family says he brings nothing but joy to the home. It is nearly impossible not to smile and laugh at Stanley and his goofy personality. Jay Carter, Stanley’s dad, says Stanley is just a big loveable goofball.
Stanley is a greyhound and the breed is known for their quick running ability. But Jay Cartner, Stanley’s dad, says he doesn’t exactly run—he prances instead. Stanley also cannot get enough affection from his family. Jay jokes that Stanley cries if you are petting him with both hands because he also wants you to pet him with your third and also fourth hands. Jay is an artist and he has been drawing and painting for 25 years now. From time to time, he tries his hand at drawing his very expressive, and always moving dogs. Stanley is one of his most interesting subjects to draw.
So recently, Jay decided to try to recreate some photos he had taken of Stanley in a hilarious way. It was a particularly hectic day at work for him, so Jay did some very quick and silly sketches of goofy Stanley to make himself laugh and re-centered. The results are hilarious. It is quite possible that his sketches are his best work yet and after posting them on Facebook, it seems thousands of people agree. He had no idea that so many people would enjoy the sketches. But they were such a huge hit that Jay decided to start a page dedicated to the drawings, called Flat Dog Doodles: https://www.facebook.com/flatdogdoodles/
