A dog named Fritz and his owner, a woman named Bret Mortimer, have a daily routine. Nearly every day, the pair hop in Bret’s car and head to the local dog park. Last Saturday, the pair got into the car and Fritz assumed they were headed to his favorite place so he could play with his doggy friends. Unfortunately, he thought wrong that day. Bret loves sweet Fritz very much, which is why she actually took him to the vet that day. They went to a veterinary dentist that day for a checkup because it is important for Fritz to have a healthy mouth full of teeth.
Bret says she scheduled the appointment to get Fritz’s teeth cleaned because he is her best friend and she wants him to be healthy. However, poor Fritz did not see it that way. She dropped Fritz off for his cleaning and then came back to pick him up. He was not shy about letting her know exactly how he felt about the experience. They opened the door and brought him out and he was not happy to see her. He actually spent the entire car ride home giving his mom the cold shoulder. He refused to make eye contact with her because he was so mad about the vet visit. She caught the entire thing on video, talking to Fritz and apologizing, but he was not having any of it.
Bret says the cold shoulder felt like he was telling her that he felt betrayed by the vet visit versus their usual trip to the dog park. But thankfully he got over the experience pretty quickly. Once they got back home he was back to his old self again. However, it soon became clear he did not forget about the experience. The next day, Bret and Fritz got back in the car again—this time to actually go to the dog park. He is normally very excited about this, but that day he seemed just a little suspicious. But once he realized they were going to have fun, he was happy again.
