For most students, it takes at least four years to earn a diploma from a higher education institution. But for one dog, he decided to take matters into his own paws and try to bypass the system. It all started on graduation day for students at the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. One of those students is a woman named Christina Ruiz and she was excited for her big day. After the ceremony had concluded, she knelt down to get a photo with the University’ mascot, a bulldog named Tarzan. Once she knelt down however, Ruiz saw an opportunity to get a diploma for himself. Once she got close, he went for it and grabbed her diploma in his mouth.
The entire hilarious moment was caught on video, but no one was upset about the situation, thankfully. It seems Tarzan the bulldog is a big deal on the college campus as their school mascot. He is a beloved member of their school and all the students love him—so much so there is a large statue in his honor on the university’s campus. Christina says getting her diploma stolen by the beloved mascot made her graduation day that much more memorable and special. She says her diploma was “signed” by Ruiz that day and the unique diploma was the cherry on top of an already wonderful day for her.
Christina even paid a visit to the large statue of Ruiz on graduation day to recreate her special moment by placing her diploma in the statue’s mouth. There were many students who got a photo taken with Ruiz on their graduation day, but certainly none are as memorable as Christina’s interaction with the sweet pup. Who knows what caused him to give his special signature to her diploma, but it certainly made for a memorable day for all involved!
