Colbert and Plaza Find Homes for Shelter Pups

April Livingston | March 14th, 2017

Aubrey Plaza, former Parks and Rec star, visited The Late Night Show in February. Colbert had a different way of introducing the star to the show as he has been finding homes for dogs in animal shelters on his show. Together, Colbert and Plaza did a skit during the show to try and find New York’s North Shore Animal Shelter puppies homes!

The skit included some fictitious news and comments about the puppies themselves, but the puppies had the audience oohing and ahhing the entire time. From puppy breath that smells like muffins to a dog that ate a treasure map of the Carnegie fortune this dog show had it all.

To start off, Colbert held a black puppy named Slugger. Slugger is a lab mix “certified in shiatsu massage” and “always remembers your mother’s birthday.” After Slugger had a short visit, Ace, a hound mix crawled into Plaza’s hands. He gets along well with the ladies as “he can talk, but chooses not to as a form of protest against wage inequality.” Other dogs included Molly the hound and terrier mix. Molly is said to have ate the map to the famous Carnegie fortune, uh oh you know what that means.

Murphy, a shepherd Rottweiler Mix, was next. Murphy is very civic minded man that enjoys working at animal shelters; that’s plural, not just one but many animal shelters. The more dogs that came out of the dog house, the more you wanted to adopt them all! These dogs seemed unshaken by the audience and celebrities around them. And the audience and celebrities seemed like they couldn’t get enough.

Colbert and Plaza ended the show with information on how to adopt the dogs shown on The Late Night Show and where to find them. If you didn’t finish the video you can find the link to adopt these dogs online at Colbert’s site at colbertlateshow.com. These dogs are housed at the New York North Shore Animal Shelter and are currently up for adoption.
