Sara Harper, who was working as a vet technician at a low-cost vaccination in Florida saw a dog named Dobby she couldn’t believe her eyes. The little dog had red, raw skin and didn’t even look like a dog at all. The clinic, run by the Concerned Citizens for Animal Welfare, was staffed with people who knew they needed to help the dog. The woman who brought him in said he was five and he had never been to a vet before. Dobby’s body was raw and bloody and he was malnourished. The woman admitted she had treated him for fleas with a powder meant for carpet that should be vacuumed up. She said she didn’t have the money to spend on his care, and agreed to surrender him when employees asked. Sara took him to her veterinary clinic, even though it was closed. She knew Dobby needed help as soon as possible. She gave him a medicated bath and trimmed his nails that were so long they grew into his feet.
She knew he was in pain, but he never complained once. It was like he knew he had finally been saved from a life of pain. He was then taken in by Pawsibilities Rescue Group who helped him continue to heal. He was given medicated baths and soon his beautiful white fur began growing back. That’s where Liz Ford, who had just lost her two dogs, met Dobby. She was at the rescue facility to adopt a dog named Wylie and she fell in love with Dobby too. Dobby curled up on her lap when she met him and Liz just knew they were meant to be together. She adopted Wylie and then four months later came back for Dobby.
The two dogs just love each other so much. While Dobby still had some healing to do until all his fur came back, Liz continued his treatment. These days, Dobby is the white fluffy dog he was always meant to be and he loves to play with his brother Wylie and play fetch in the backyard with a ball. Thanks to the kindness of all those people along the way, he’s now a happy, healthy dog!
