Women Gets Letter from Deceased Dog

April Livingston | March 18th, 2018

As anyone who owns and loves a dog knows, they are a truly valuable member of the family. They live alongside their owners for decades or more and letting them go is a difficult, sad situation when the day comes. A woman named Ashley Bowerman knows this all too well, as she shared in a social post recently. Her grandmother has a quiet corner in her home that is a dedication and memorial to a little dog who meant the world to her. After twelve years of being a companion to them, Ashley’s grandparents lost their dog. They were devastated by this and tried to keep the dog’s memory alive as much as possible.

That shrine holds several framed photographs of their dog Tucker, along with poodle stuffed animals that remind them of the dog. The loss of their dog Tucker was especially hard for Ashley’s grandparents during the holiday season, but that is when her grandfather did something amazing. He wrote his wife a note in a holiday card that was not from him—it was actually from their dog Tucker. The note said the following:

“Just wanted to let you know that I could not have had a better mom,” the letter reads. “From the time I was just a pup to the time you had to let me go, you took very good care of me. Now I am in this beautiful place free of all pains. I’ll be watching for you as I always had, waiting at the window. Have a wonderful life till then. -Tuckie”

While Ashley’s grandparents know that nothing will actually bring their dog Tucker back, that note has helped to remind them that the dog had a truly wonderful life for the twelve years he was able to live with them. The little dog is actually never too far either: his ashes reside in a windowsill in their home.
