Woman Playing Pokemon Go Finds Friend

April Livingston | July 25th, 2018

A woman named Ela Okreša Đurić had thought about adopting a dog for several months. However, several visits to her local shelter never resulting in her making a real connection with any of the dogs she met. She figured the timing was not right or maybe it was even her fault that she could not find a dog that worked for her and her personality. That is, until the right dog came into her life by sheer luck and coincidence. Ela was out one day playing the game Pokémon Go with her friends and boyfriend when seemingly out of nowhere a dog approached them. The dog had severely matted fur and was covered in fleas and ticks. Worse yet, the poor dog was exhausted and seemed to be in pain. Regardless, the dog was so happy to see Ela and her friends.

She talked sweetly to the dog, whose name later became Loki, and that really sealed the deal: the dog would not leave her side after that. Loki was very sweet, calm, and incredibly well behaved too. After the dog followed Ela around for about an hour, she decided that they were meant to be together. Ela tried to convince the dog to go back where he came from, but he refused to leave her side. She offered him water and food and then contacted her local shelter to see if he had a home or a microchip; they did not find one. So, Ela knew it was meant to be that Loki became her dog—the one she had spent so many months searching for.

Ela took Loki to a veterinarian, where he was determined to be in good health, aside from the fleas, ticks, and matted fur. She thinks he had been living on the streets for some time, so he is slowly adjusting to his new life as an indoor dog with a roof over his head and an owner who loves him.
