As anyone who owns a dog knows, they bring so much into our lives. So much so, it can feel like we cannot possibly repay them for all they do for us. But for one woman who lives in California, she found a truly brilliant way to return the favor to her sweet dogs by building them a truly incredible dog dream house. Victoria Palmer has three dogs: Marvin a shepherd mix, Bruiser a Chihuahua and Fuzz the Pomeranian. She says the dogs have given her unconditional comfort, love, and true companionship over the years. So, she decided that she needed to do something for them in return.
Her inspiration began when she tore down an old dilapidated shed in her backyard. She cleared the debris away and all that was left was the concrete footprint of the shed. She had a stroke of inspiration and realized that the foundation was just the right size to create a doggy mansion for her three beloved pups. She even gave it a sweet name: Barkingham Palace. As soon as she started planning out the palace for her dogs, she enlisted help from her father. She said she and her dad love to do home improvement projects and work on her home whenever he is in town visiting. When she mentioned this project to him, he jumped into action to draw up plans for the mansion.
They got a bit carried away, framing out windows and a roof, and even building out a second story in the dog mansion. Her father helped her get started, and then Victoria took it from there, spending weeks, adding flooring, painting the walls and even adding sophisticated photos of dogs to the walls. Now that it is complete, the dogs absolutely love it, happily running and up and down the stairs to look off the upstairs balcony or take a nice nap in a bed.
