When a middle-aged woman walked into The Secret Garden Pet Resort she had a senior bulldog with her. The dog was scheduled for a grooming appointment that day. The woman, who had red hair and was wearing an eye patch, said her name was Melanie Wichester and she filled out a form that said her dog’s name was William Katz. As soon as the dog was taken back to be groomed, the staff realized he was in a great deal of pain. The poor older dog was covered in pressure sores, likely from being in a crate for extended periods of time. He also had ear, eye, and skin infections.
The staff did what they could to make him comfortable and used a special shampoo to soothe his itchy skin. But when they were finished and it was time for him to be picked up, his owner was nowhere to be found. The staff waited for twenty four hours, and then realized the woman would never return for her dog. So, they had no choice but to contact animal control to help the dog. It was discovered that the woman used a fake name and forged vet papers to drop her dog off and investigators are working to review security footage to find the woman’s true identity. As investigators work to find the woman, the staff at The Secret Garden Pet Resort are making the dog feel at home.
They gave him his own staff t-shirt to prevent him from scratching his skin and gave him a comfortable pet to relax and welcome visitors. He will be staying with them for seven days and then will be transferred to the Long Island Bulldog Rescue facility in the hopes of finding his forever home. In the meantime, he will be living the good life!
