Emily Gray has worked hard to achieve her dreams. She’s a recent college graduate and she recently accepted a job as a middle school teacher in Oklahoma. However, there was just one dream she had left: she wanted to adopt a dog. Emily has always dreamed of adopting a dog of her own, but it just never really worked out. In college, she had roommates and having a dog just wasn’t in the cards. But once she graduated and went out on her own with a job, it was time to bring a dog into her home. Emily and her students have a close relationship, so one day she told them about her dream of adopting a dog. Many of her students are dog lovers and dog owners themselves, so they heard about her plan and decided to run with it.
Her students were so eager to help their teacher find the ideal dog, but she had no idea just how much they were willing to step in and help. The next day Emily came into her classroom and found a multiple choice quiz on her desk. She’s usually the one giving them quizzes, so it was a bit of a surprise to her. The quiz had 19 questions to help her figure out which dog would work best with her lifestyle. The questions included things like, “Do you need a hypoallergenic dog?” and “How long will your dog be alone during the day?” and “Does your dog need to have a friendly wagging tail?”
Emily was so impressed by her students and couldn’t believe they did all that work to help her find a dog. So, she took the quiz and then they handed her the results. The breed they recommended based on her answers was either a Labradoodle or border collie; they also said not to forget about a loveable mutt! Not long after she completed the quiz, one of her fellow teachers approached her with a 2 year-old dog named Buddy whose elderly owners could no longer care for him. She met Buddy and he was the perfect match—thanks to her sweet students.
