Stray Dogs Steal Police Car

For two police officers in Germany, a call to remove debris from the road was nothing too exciting. In fact, you could even call it normal. But what happened when they went to actually remove the debris was anything but typical. Two dogs were waiting for them when they arrived and they asked the officers for help in the cutest way. The call for police began when several people called to report pieces of broken tires in the middle of the Autobahn highway.

The two officers from the Saxony-Anhalt Police Department in Germany were dispatched to the scene so they could clear the hazards from the roadway. The officers arrived on the scene and blocked the road with their cars, but soon they realized something else needed their attention while they were there: it was two dogs.

The pair of pooches seemed to be lost and saw an opportunity now that the road was blocked and traffic was at a standstill. The officers had left their patrol car door open and the dogs considered that to be their open invitation. The two dogs jumped inside the car, one sitting on the seat and the other making itself comfortable on the floor of the car. They were quite “determined” according to the officer’s police report of the incident. As dog lovers not wanting to leave the dogs alone on the roadway, the officers gave the dogs a ride to a local animal shelter to get the help they needed.

Luckily for the dogs, their time at the animal shelter was not long. In fact, the two white dogs, thought to be pit bull mixes, were only at the shelter for a few hours. The owner of the pair of dogs called the shelter and came to pick up their dogs. While they were a bit embarrassed that the dogs had a run in with the law while they were on the run, their owner was happy to bring them safely back home again.
