When a terminal illness affects a human being, there is often a need to complete a “bucket list” of items that person would like to do before they die. Many people wish to go skydiving or swim with dolphins, but what if it was a dog that had a bucket list of items? What do you think a dog would want to do before they die?
For one family in Pennsylvania, they were faced with just that particular question. Tim Griffin and his family recently learned that their beloved Golden Retriever has a terminal cancer diagnosis. The twelve year old pooch named Mr. Molson has terminal soft tissue cancer. So, the family decided it was time to give their beloved family dog a memorable sendoff. The terminally ill dog now has his own “bucket list” of items for him to enjoy in the coming months.
One such item on the list was for Mr. Molson to finally get married. So, the family got him a dog sized tuxedo ordered online and found a suitable bride for him: a black Labrador named Josie. Josie wore a frilly white wedding dress for the occasion, in which they exchanged vows. After the ceremony, both Mr. Molson and Josie enjoyed a cake made of dog treats and peanut butter.
Now that Mr. Molson has crossed marriage off of his bucket list, there are plenty of other memorable events left for him to do. His list also includes swimming in the ocean, eating a snake, enjoying a beer with his owner, riding in a firetruck and riding in a police car. His family also plans to take Mr. Molson to eat a Coney Island hot dog, a family favorite.
Though Mr. Molson’s time on Earth is drawing to a close, his family reports that he has stayed positive throughout the ordeal and has enjoyed completing each of the exciting items on his doggy bucket list.
