When he was a small puppy, a dog named Cloudy found himself in an animal shelter in Alabama. He was picked up as a stray and then was taken in by a group called the Double Dog Rescue. The staff there got to know Cloudy, who is a Labrador mix, and thought he would be adopted very quickly into someone’s home. He was friendly, energetic, and loved to play. It was clear a family would scoop him up and adopt him quite quickly. As luck would have it, just a few months after arriving at the facility, Cloudy was adopted by a family. Staff was hopeful it was his happily ever after, but sadly he was returned not long after that.
Then, a second family stepped up to adopt Cloudy. Then, he was returned to the facility for a second time. While Cloudy is a very sweet dog, it seems his overwhelming fear of strangers caused both families to return him. While staff isn’t sure what happened to him as a puppy, they believe his experience before being rescued caused him to have major anxiety around unknown people. His first two owners were not able to deal with this anxiety, but staffers say that once Cloudy trusts you, he loves you for life. It might take him some time to get used to people, but he is very loyal and affectionate once he has a chance to settle in and become comfortable.
Cloudy is currently living in a foster home and has attached himself to his foster mom Stacey Lambert. She says he loves to be outside, enjoying walks and running around outdoors. He has lots of energy, and enjoys a good game of fetch, too. Cloudy is great with other dogs and even with cats and children. He just needs a home that can help him overcome his fear of strangers.
