Senior Dogs Need Home Together

April Livingston | March 17th, 2019

Zachary and Pee Wee have been together their entire lives. So, when their owner passed away recently and the pair was sent to the large shelter in North Carolina they were terrified. The overcrowded shelter did not have room for the pair of little dogs, so the Adoption First Animal Rescue stepped in to pull them and help them find a home. The Chihuahuas made it clear from the moment they arrived at the rescue that they loved each other very much and they needed to be together. Zachary and Pee Wee are eight years old and have lived together their entire lives. They are bonded together and it’s clear to everyone at the rescue that they are very close.

They are often seen cuddling or curled up together and just feel safe when they are together. In particular, Pee Wee has trouble meeting new people without Zachary. Zachary is definitely the social butterfly of the pair while Pee Wee is much more shy. But together, they are very brave. Zachary loves to be held and cuddled, but it just takes time for Pee Wee to be trusting of new people. After observing the pair for a few weeks, the rescue decided they needed to make the relationship official and they gave them a wedding.

The pair dressed up for the occasion, with Pee Wee wearing a beautiful pink dress with a studded collar and Zachary donning his finest tuxedo. It was the perfect day for it, and they stood on a blanket outside and got married. Now, the next big plan for the pair is to find a forever home together. Pee Wee and Zachary would need a home where there are no young children and it is quiet. They enjoy being around other calm dogs, going for car rides, and just being loved.
