Just a few months ago, a dog named Eric was dropped off with a neighbor. His owners never came back to get him and it seemed he was all alone. Eric is fourteen years old and needed a home, but instead was surrendered to the RSPCA and he’s been waiting for a home since then. As an older senior dog, Eric has slowed down quite a bit. He occasionally enjoys the “zoomies” and running around, but mostly he just likes to explore the world and cuddle. But his very favorite thing is sleeping and taking naps. Eric is in his older years and after a long day of cuddling, he just wants to sleep. Actually, Eric has a requirement of at least nine hours of sleep each night. He even puts himself to bed at a certain time each time to make sure he gets that ideal amount of sleep at night.
The staff at the RSPCA says Eric’s very favorite thing is to sleep. He puts himself to sleep at 10 o’clock each night and really is not a fan of waking up before 7 o’clock each morning. Then, Eric makes sure that he gets a solid nap each afternoon. He always seeks out special spots to nap, like in a doorway or on tiled floors. Eric has a very thick, fluffy coat so he loves cool spots. While Eric loves sleep, he also loves being around people. He loves to cuddle, nap with people, and just being calm and hanging out with humans. He really loves a good scratch behind the ear or a nice back scratch, too.
After so many years of living in a home, Eric was having a tough time in the shelter. So, he’s now in a foster home so he can do his favorite thing: sleep in a warm bed. More than anything, though, the RSPCA wants to find him a forever home for his golden years. He really needs to be around humans and have some stability in his life. He needs a home with other dogs, but with no cats or small children. He loves going for walks, followed of course by a nice nap.
