Senior Dog is Saved

In Brooklyn, New York in the United States, a dog is a favorite among the animal shelter staff. Though the shelter is a crowded, busy place, those who work there say a dog named Honey is as sweet as it gets. She was picked up on Christmas Eve from the cold streets of New York and then found herself in the Brooklyn branch of the Animal Control Centers of New York, also known as the ACC. Though she was found as a stray dog, she certainly does not act like one. It’s believed that she was not on the streets for very long. Honey is very well behaved, friendly, and even potty trained. So, it’s confusing as to why such a sweet, wonderful dog was found wandering the streets as a stray.

Volunteers at the ACC shelter are trying their hardest to find a loving home for the sweet Honey who has no business staying in a shelter. She absolutely loves people and wags her tail like crazy each time she meets someone new—or reunites with a staff member. She leans in for pets and is even known to give lots of kisses when she gets especially excited. The staff has taken her through behavioral assessments and she’s been found to do well on a leash, is housebroken, and goes wild for treats but is polite in taking them. The staff knows she has plenty of love to give to a potential new owner.

Unfortunately there are hundreds of dogs going into the ACC shelter and Honey has been lost in the shuffle. She was in danger of being euthanized, but thankfully was adopted and saved on January 5. Though she is a senior dog at eight years old, she has lots of life and love to give to her new owner.
