The Arizona Humane Society, also known as AHS, got a strange call one day. A neighbor said there was a pit bull puppy stuck on the roof of a home in Phoenix and rescuers came to help. They expected to see a frightened dog cowering on the roof, but that was not the case. The puppy, who was later named Rufio, was actually having a great time on the roof. He was running around and wagging his tail, but he needed to get down. So, the Arizona Humane Society Emergency Animal Medical Technicians (EAMTS) came to help. Rufio was a stray dog, and no one is quite sure how he found his way onto the roof. However he found his way up there, it was time to help him get down.
When the team arrived to help, Rufio was so excited to see them. He was having the time of his life up there, and he assumed rescuers were there to play with him. After lots of coaxing, treats, and even some belly rubs, the team was able to get him down from the roof. Then, Rufio was transported to the AHS’ Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital. He was given an examination to ensure he wasn’t injured or sick. He seemed to be just fine, and he was clearly a lover of people: he was so excited to see the staff at the hospital. He’s a very energetic dog who loves people and loves to play; his entire body wiggles when he is excited.
After he was given a clean bill of health by the veterinarian who examined him, he got a special photo shoot in the hopes of capturing his incredible personality. They were able to capture some great photos and place him officially up for adoption into a loving home. It was no surprise to anyone at AHS that he was adopted just one week after being placed up for adoption. Rufio the energetic, sweet pup now has the perfect forever home and hopefully his days of partying on the roof are over!
