In Ireland, a woman was out for a walk in her neighborhood when she spotted something odd. It was a plastic bag on the ground, and it was moving. As she got closer she heard whining and crying coming from the bag. She approached the bag and couldn’t believe her eyes when she peered inside: a little face was looking back at her. There was a tiny little puppy in the bag who was later given a name: Bobby. He was just five weeks old and entirely too young to be away from his mom. Someone had clearly tried to dump him, so the woman rushed him home and began contacting rescue organizations for help. The puppy was sick and could not walk, so the Coolronan Dog Rescue was eager to assist.
Ramona Cunningham, one of the owners of the rescue, and her partner Chris Kelly agreed to take him in and take him to a vet. He was in poor condition, but was a fighter—despite being incredibly small. He was very emaciated and weak and didn’t have any muscles in his back legs. Despite his poor condition, he got stronger as the days went on and even began to thrive. He was able to regain the use of his back legs and even started to run around like a normal puppy would. They posted Bobby’s story on Facebook and had a flood of interest from people who wanted to adopt him. But the more they spent time with the sweet puppy, the more they realized they just couldn’t let him go.
Romana says it was her husband Chris who really fell in love with little Bobby. They have six other dogs, but they are all female and this meant he had a special bond with the pup. The couple is now happily watching Bobby grow up and thrive, thanks to the woman who found him that day in the bag.
