Pot Farm Bust Saves a Little Life

April Livingston | October 4th, 2018

Police officers in California made an enormous drug bust recently. They raided an illegal marijuana growing operation that led to the destruction of approximately $3 million in plants. However, their mission did not end there. Officers on the scene were inspecting the rows of plants and piles of hazardous chemicals when they came upon an innocent victim. While the people who were running the marijuana growing operation had fled the scene, they left someone behind: a little puppy. Not only that, but the puppy was in terrible condition.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office shared photos and the story of the puppy on Facebook. They said the puppy was groggy and lethargic when discovered. It was very hot that day (about 90 degrees Fahrenheit) and the puppy had no access to food or water. The good news is that the puppy was discovered in time and was in great hands with the sheriff’s department. Officers placed the puppy in a box and rushed him to a veterinarian for the care he so desperately needed.

While no one knows exactly what happened to him, it’s believed he was exposed to chemicals or something that made him sick. When he arrived at the Santa Monica Animal Center he was vomiting and salivating uncontrollably. After some TLC and observation, things started to turn around for the little pup. He bounced back and was soon back to his energetic puppy self. Best of all, one of the sheriff’s deputies stepped forward to adopt him. The name of the deputy is not being shared for security reasons, but it’s safe to say the little pup now has a happy, loving home and can leave his troubled beginnings behind. Officers say he left a big impression on everyone at the scene, and the department is so happy that he was able to fight through his circumstances and now has the home he deserves.
