Today, a two year old pit bull named Karlyn is the happiest, sweetest dog you’ll meet. But things haven’t always been that way for her—she’s made a complete transformation. But there is one last thing she needs to complete that transformation: a forever home. It wasn’t that long ago that the sweet smiley Karlyn was terrified and couldn’t even make contact with people. The staff in the shelter were she was staying would dress her up, but no matter what they did she looked miserable and defeated. But then someone came along and changed her life.
Kalyn was first found as a stray in South Carolina and it seemed that she had a home at one point but her owners dumped her in the street. It was also clear she had been abused, as she was timid, nervous, and cowered when anyone got close to her. She arrived at the overcrowded shelter and was immediately labeled as urgent so she could be fostered, rescued, or adopted. That’s where a woman named Fran Alexay and Valerie Mullin, who work for Champlain Valley Canine Rescue, stepped in to help.
Karlyn went to Fran Alexay’s home, where she learned to trust people again—after a few weeks, she even started smiling again. She made an incredible transformation thanks to lots of love and patience from Fran and her family. After being there for a few months and really turning everything around, she was ready to move on to her new foster home. That’s where Valerie Mullin stepped in to help and Karlyn headed to Vermont to continue the journey to a forever home. Both women say that Karlyn is a very sweet dog who, more than anything, just deserves to have a special person to take her in. She’s now happily enjoying her foster home, but is looking for a forever home.
