It is fairly safe to say that everyone loves a good love story. Countless books and movies have centered around great loves—but one family doesn’t need to go any further than their own backyard for a love story. This great tale begins with a shy golden retriever named Lola and a Staffordshire terrier named Loki. Back in March 2019 Lola and her mom, a woman named Amber Monte moved into a new home located outside of the city of Surrey in England. When they arrived, it was the neighbor dog Loki who was the first to come over and introduce himself.
While Loki could not exactly come over to their house to say hello, he did what he could. The two yards are separately by a wooden fence, but that did not keep these two loves apart. Amber says she and Lola have never lived next door to dogs before, so it was a very exciting experience for Lola to have a friend next door to her for the first time in her life. She soon began to notice that the moment Loki was outside he immediately ran to the fence to look for his friend Lola. Lola was happy to see Loki too, but they just figured it was a friendship. Lola would jump up and say hello and give him some kisses. As a shy dog, Amber figured Lola would be scared around Loki, like she is around most other dogs when they are out for a walk together.
But that was not the case: soon Lola was whining to go outside so she could be with her friend. When she is let outside, the first thing she would do is head straight for the fence to see Loki. If she wasn’t outside yet, she’d sit and wait for his arrival. It seems Loki felt the same way, because soon he found a way to get into the yard so he could play with Lola rather than saying hello through the fence. What a great love story!
