Bella’s story begins in New Zealand. She was born in the care of a breeder and an environment full of neglect and filth. She was able to escape that terrible place but then found herself in a new home where she and her new family’s dog did not get along. That’s how she found herself at the Husky Rescue NZ. When she arrived there, she was terrified. She was afraid of people and other dogs and it was clear her history of mistreatment caused her to not trust anyone. But soon after arriving, she met a man named Simon Evans who would help transform her life.
Simon was a volunteer for the group and would come to the facility after work to help exercise the dogs. He soon bonded with a dog named Noct. Noct was from the same breeder as Bella and though he began his life with neglect, he eventually grew to truest and love Simon. After that, Simon worked to do the same for Bella. Simon was able to gain Noct’s trust by taking him for runs, so he decided to do the same with Bella. With the help of another volunteer, Simon took both Noct and Bella for runs and with time, Bella came out of her shell.
Simon took the pair for a run a few days a week, and after weeks of runs Bella started to get excited when she saw him coming to get her. Bella bonded with Simon and with Noct during their outings and the pair became great friends. Simon was getting ready to move away, but before he did there was one thing he needed to do: adopt both Noct and Bella. The pair had come so far together, he knew he couldn’t leave either of them behind. These days, Simon goes for a daily run with Noct and Bella and they have made an incredible transformation!
