Man on Bike Gives Ride to Puppy in Need

April Livingston | July 20th, 2018

Colombo the puppy had a lot of bad luck for such a young dog. He didn’t seem to have a friend, and was living outside as a stray dog in the Columbus, Ohio area. Then, he was hit by a car. But things soon looked up for the dog who indeed found a friend to help him out. A man named Jarrett Little ended up being that friend to little Colombo. Jarrett was out on a bike ride with friends when he decided to take a short break. While he was resting for a few moments, he saw what he thought was a fox running across the road toward him. As it got closer, he realized it was a dog and the poor pup was not in great shape. It was Colombo, who was hungry and injured but still happy to see Jarrett.

Thought Colombo was injured, he was more than happy to accept food and water from his new friends. But Jarrett knew he needed to do more for Colombo, so he placed the puppy on his back, put his rear paws in his pockets and transported him to safety. It took about thirty minutes to reach downtown Columbus, which is where Jarrett and Colombo met Andrea Shaw. She was visiting Ohio from her home in Maine and she and Columbo had an instant connection. Once she heard his story, she immediately knew she needed to rescue and adopt Colombo.

Before that could happen, Colombo needed surgery for his broken leg. Once he was healed from his surgery, it was time to transport him from Columbus to his new home with Andrea in Maine. Though he has some time before he is completely healed from his injuries, Colombo is well on his way to healing and living a normal life with his new family, thanks to the quick thinking of a cyclist.
