“Loneliest Dog in Britain” Needs Home

April Livingston | February 6th, 2019

In October of 2017, Hector joined the other animals living at the Little Valley Animal Shelter in Britain. He was such a sweet, friendly, and outgoing dog that the staff just knew he would be adopted in no time. But two years have passed, and poor Hector is still living in the shelter and wishing and hoping for his forever home. So much so, the British media has given him the title of, “Britain’s Loneliest Dog.” Hector was removed from his former home by the RSPCA group because of welfare issues. He was just a puppy back then and he’s grown up in the shelter environment.

The staff just loves the goofy, outgoing pup and can’t understand why no one has stepped forward to adopt him. Hector is now a fully-grown adult dog and he’s quite tall: he stands at just over 3 feet tall with his four paws on the ground. He has long legs and is black and white and is believed to be a cattle dog mix. He has big brown eyes, a very expressive face and a big personality to match his big body. He needs plenty of exercise and would love to find an active family that loves to go on adventures with him.

Many people have passed over Hector because he does have some issues to work through: he is playful and smart but has issues with food and toy guarding and separation anxiety. He’s never been left alone, so he’s scared to be home by himself and it will take time for someone to get him accustomed to being along in the home for even short periods of time. His guarding tendencies mean that he would not be ideal for a home with children and will need to be an only dog. He’s been going through training and has made great strides in his life and hopes to not be lonely much longer.
