What Kind of Dog Person Are You?

There are some people who love dogs and then there are others who LOVE dogs. But which one are you? A good way to figure out what kind of a dog person you are is by asking friends and family. Or better yet, if the person whose dog your petting is making a weird face, that could tell you a little bit more.

The Social Dog Liker

These are the people who only like dogs in social settings. They would never dream of owning a dog themselves, but when it comes to a party they are actively searching for a pup to pet. Many of us do this anyways, since the best part of the party is meeting new pets, but social dog likers do it because they are looking for a way out of socializing. By petting the dog, they are free to ignore anyone and everyone while also looking like they want to be there. Then they promptly go home after the shindig is over and spend the evening with their cat.

The Actual Dog Liker

Not all of us love every kind of dog. Sometimes the really ugly dog from across the road comes outside to pee and you close your door just in case he gets any ideas to run across the street. You do love to pet a cute puppy every now and then, though. Your dog likes you just enough, but you keep a good distance most days with a few good pets here and there. It’s a like-like relationship.

The Dog Lover

Then there are a few of us who love absolutely every dog we meet. We find it hard to resist the temptation to pet all of the dogs that walk by us every day. We spend tons of time with our own pup just because it’s the best part of our day. Not only do we reach for the popcorn when we watch movies, but we also reach for the pupcorn we made for our pooch. A good way to know if you’re a dog lover is if you can picture putting love songs behind the scenes of your everyday life when petting a good dog. Love is for the way you look, at me…

The Dog Extremist

These are the last few of the dogist group that sometimes take things a little too far. If you have dog pictures plastered all over the walls of your house or have a china set with dogs all over it, this might be you. As you walk by dog owners on the street, you probably squeal a bit every time and spend five to ten minutes petting a stranger’s dog who is just trying to take their dog out for their daily poop ritual. If this is you, maybe take a few pictures down and take your own pup out for a walk and let others pet it. It will be good for you, I pawmise.

No matter what kind of dog person you are, you fall under the dog person category. We are all dog people and it’s important to remember that dogs are the reason. Dogs bring us together and let us be our true selves. So whether you are a dog lover or a dog liker, you’re always welcome as long as you bring your pup!
