John Allen and his K9 partner Spike are both specially trained officers for the Romeoville Police Department, located in the state of Illinois. The pair work side by side every day, working to keep their community safe. However, K9 Spike is a multi talented dog whose skills extend far beyond his abilities to help fight crime. John Allen and Spike have worked side by side for the last six years and have an impressive resume of assisting with major drug busts and criminal apprehensions. However, that does not mean their time together is all business—the pair finds some time for a little fun sometimes.
Spike has some other talents, and John Allen was able to capture them on video recently. It turns out Spike is also a really great singer. The video features John and Spike, who is “singing” along to the popular 2000’s hit “Who Let the Dogs Out?” by the Baha Men. It is certainly not the typical talent for a dog, or a police K9 at that, but John couldn’t be prouder of his partner. The video shows John smiling and laughing as K9 Spike howls and barks along with the song.

While it’s certainly a specialized skill for a dog to fight crime that involves plenty of training, it seems Spikes skills with singing just come naturally to him. John says Spike loves to sing along with songs, but “Who Let the Dogs Out?” is clearly his favorite tune. John Allen and Spike have a special bond that extends beyond a working relationship; Spike lives with John when he’s not working. In a few years when Spike is ready to retire from the police force, he will live with John and his family full-time. In the meantime, the pair will continue to work side by side to fight crime and find some time to listen to their favorite song, too.
