Groomer Helps Lucky Dog in Middle of the Night

For a dog named Lucky, things did not begin so well. No one is quite sure how it happened, but by perhaps a stroke of good luck, Lucky was stranded on a busy road in Florida at night. He was in rough shape to say the least, with his entire body covered in a large mass of matted fur that made it difficult for him to see or even move with ease. However, the days of neglect and back luck are over for the dog, who was recently taken in by a rescue group—and helped by a groomer with a generous heart.

A woman named Kari Falla, who owns BGE Grooming, grooms and bathes pets in Seminole County, Florida. When she isn’t servicing paying customers and their dogs, she donates her skills and time to helping rescue animals so they can be ready for adoption. Kari recently found herself in one such situation after seeing on Facebook that Lucky the dog was rescued from the road and in desperate need of help. So, she did what any dog lover would do: she woke up in the middle of the night to return to work so she could help Lucky.

Kari knew that Lucky needed immediate attention and there was no time to wait. So, she contacted the rescuer and told them to meet at the grooming salon at Midnight to groom Lucky. When the dog arrived, things were much worse than they looked in photos: the dog had a terrible stench, could not walk or go to the bathroom, and his body was encased in matted hair. Lucky was also infested with fleas and had a long leash that was embedded in his skin. However, things were not hopeless. Kari spent three hours working on Lucky, freeing him from his prison of matted hair.

After the hair was removed, they gave the dog a bath—perhaps the first bath he had ever received in his life. Then, Lucky was taken to a vet where it was discovered that he is both deaf and blind. As Lucky receives treatment and gets better, he will be ready for a new home!
