Grandmother Changes Mind About Puppy

April Livingston | May 15th, 2019

A woman named Annabelle Camp found a skinny, frightened little puppy on the side of a rural road in Georgia. She had no idea how much that discovery would change her life—and lead to two lives being saved when all was said and done. Annabelle took the puppy home with her that day and named him Mason and began caring for him. But she lives with her grandmother, who does not care for dogs, and Annabelle knew she wouldn’t be allowed to keep the little pup. Annabelle and her grandmother made an agreement: as soon as a foster home was available the pup would go to the local Human Society. Mason would only be living with them for a week, maybe two. But a foster home was not available so Mason went to a boarding facility so he could be strong enough to be ready to be adopted into a forever home.

Once he arrived there, Mason got sick and had to be hospitalized. When Annabelle heard, she begged her grandmother to take the dog back. She agreed, but was not thrilled by the idea of having a dog in her home again. Mason thrived back in Annabelle’s care and she had to believe it all happened for a reason. No one could have guessed what that reason would be until Mason jumped into action. One night Annabelle was awoken by Mason standing over her and barking urgently. She knew something wasn’t right and Mason begged her to follow him down the hall. He ran to an area of the home he wasn’t allowed to go: the grandmother’s bedroom. He led Annabelle into the bathroom and began standing over her and licking her face and whining. Annabelle’s grandmother was unconscious because of her heart condition.

Thanks to Mason, Annabelle was able to get her grandmother’s heart started again. After that, things changed between them: before she did not want to interact with the dog but after he saved her life her opinion of him changed. It’s safe to say she’s officially a “dog person” now.
