Gas Station Dog Fights Crime

April Livingston | January 13th, 2019

A skinny, scared stray dog kept hanging around a gas station located in Tamaulipas, Mexico. The staff there decided that, two years ago, they needed to help him. So, they worked to gain his trust and decided to help him out. They got him vaccinated, gave him a bath, and fed him. In fact, they actually adopted the sweet dog and he now lives at the gas station. Each of the employees care for him and ensure he’s well taken care of while he’s there. The dog even got a name: Randy. They thought they were saving his life, but he ended up helping to save theirs.

One night, two men came to the gas station to rob them. The men demanded that the employees open the office and give them access to where the money is stored. Then, the men began assaulting the employee, knocking him to the ground and punching him. But, they did not realize Randy was there. The dog, who had been fast asleep in the gas station’s warehouse, was awoken by the commotion. He immediately came running to protect the employee and scare off the assailants. The employees couldn’t believe that sweet Randy stepped in to save the day.

The employee who was being assaulted says he isn’t sure what might have happened if Randy wasn’t there to protect him. Randy isn’t aggressive though, he loves to say hello to people when they come to get gas and some customers say he’s the reason they come to get gas at the station. More than anything, it’s the hope that other gas stations can help get stray dogs off the streets and be “adopted” like Randy was. Randy is such a good dog, and certainly is as good for the employees as they are for him.
