For a pair of bonded dogs named Laverne and Shirley, life changed drastically. The pair, lost their home when their former owner dumped them in a school parking lot in the area of Corpus Christi, Texas. That area sadly has become known as one for dumping unwanted dogs and animals. Despite their terrible situation, they had one thing going for them: they had each other. A woman who lives in the area and frequently visits to feed the stray dogs noticed Laverne and Shirley as new dogs. She tried to approach them, but they were very scared and ran away from her. It took time, but eventually she gained their trust and was able to grab them by their collar and get them into her vehicle.
The pair was nervous and tried to get away because they did not know what was happening. But Leslie Ysuhuaylas was there to help them in any way she could. The two dogs found their way to a foster home in Dallas, and that’s where Tracey and Micaela Godin, who run the Feeling Fine Rescue Group in Florida, found them. The pair of women believes Laverne and Shirley were on their own for quite a while and that took a toll on their physical and emotional health. Though the journey from Texas to Florida was scary for the two dogs, they had one another the entire time to offer comfort.
When they arrived to the rescue in Florida, there was a noticeable change. The two dogs were so excited to run around outside in a yard, roll in the grass, and play together and with other dogs. The best part is that the two dogs are still by one another’s side constantly. They sleep together and Laverne loves to clean Shirley and the pair are often seen kissing. They will be ready for adoption soon—of course into a home so they can be together forever.
