It was an unbelievable sight for a woman named Donna Killough. As she and her husband were leaving a gas station in San Antonio, Texas, they spotted what looked like a pair of eyes peeking out from a large ball of matted fur. It was quite the perplexing sight, and it got even stranger when that matted ball of fur walked over to her and though she did not want to be touched, the dog was most definitely interested in some food. So, the woman placed a few of her potato chips on the ground and the dog quickly darted in to eat them. However, Donna could not just leave the dog there at the gas station. She knew she needed to do something for the dog, who was certainly feeling terrible and weighed down by the large mats in its fur.
Luckily, a man who was in the same parking lot had a trap in his car and he helped Donna catch the dog by placing food inside it. The dog went straight inside. Donna and her husband then took the dog home and placed her in a crate in the garage, as they were unsure how she might react around humans. They quickly realized that she loved people, as she would lick the hands of anyone who came near. So, they opened the crate and the dog jumped into Donna’s lap and they decided to name her Daisy. After a good night’s sleep, Donna and her husband brought Daisy straight to a groomer to give her some relief from the large mats that were more than likely weighing down her body.
A haircut later, it was clear that Daisy was so happy to be rid of all that extra weight. In fact, she was downright happy! Donna then took the dog to the vet, where other than some fleas and skin reaction from the mats, it was determined she’s a healthy dog. Best of all, she’s now a beloved member of their family!
