A woman named Alison Forsyth wanted to adopt a very specific breed of dog: she wanted a rescue Samoyed. She spent years trying to find one, as it was ideal for her life. She wanted a hypoallergenic dog who loved to be active. She was almost ready to give up on her search in her home of Seattle, Washington when she came across Mochi. Mochi was raised by an elderly owner and was meant to be a service dog, but he was far too active for her. So, the woman posted online and that’s where Alison found the dog. Alison could tell his owner loved him and wanted to care for him, but just was not able to do so. Alison met Mochi on Friday and he went home with her just two days later.
Mochi and Alison immediately clicked. Because he was raised to be a service dog, he was very sensitive and gentle and loves to be around kids and dogs. But he rarely went outside in his old home, so it’s been an adjustment for him to enjoy the great outdoors. After living in an apartment in a small town, living in the big city has been different, with Mochi learning about things like garbage trucks and car horns. He has grown to love the outdoors though, going hiking with Alison and her boyfriend in the mountains near their home.
He was so excited to go hiking, smiling and greeting every dog and human he met along the way. He had never explored the world before and he had so much to see and do now. Mochi is now going out into the world, going to work with his parents and enjoying hikes and walks every chance he gets. Mochi is so happy now, finally getting to live his best life!
