Dog Who Lost Babies gets Best Surprise

April Livingston | July 11th, 2018

Rescuers from the Barking Mad Dog Rescue received an urgent call recently. Someone had discovered an old cardboard box with a litter of puppies inside and they needed help. The puppies were found in Romania, and rescuers immediately jumped in a car to help them. The shoebox was full of puppies that were just a few days old. It seemed like they had just been born, then torn away from their mother and abandoned. Their mother was nowhere to be found, so rescuers loaded them into a car to get them the help they so desperately needed.

They required hand feeding through the day and night and special care around the clock. This wasn’t the first time the Barking Mad Dog Rescue took care of such young puppies, so they knew just what to do. Volunteers cared for the puppies and were prepared to do so as long as it took, but one of them quickly came up with a brilliant idea. The rescue group had recently taken in a dog that lost her litter of puppies when living on the streets of Romania and she was just heartbroken by the loss. She would walk around the rescue with food in her mouth, saving it for her babies. It was sad to watch.

So, rescuers decided to bring the abandoned puppies to the momma dog to see if they could help each other. The mother dog immediately took to the puppies, who started nursing from her. It was an immediate bond between the puppies and the mother dog. It was like the puppies and the dog were meant to be together. Rescuers say both the mother dog and the puppies had a rough time on the streets of Romania, but all are doing well now. They hope that the puppies and mother dog will be available for adoption very soon!
