Dog Wears a Hat for the Saddest Reason

Dogs really are incredible animals, aren’t they? Not only do they offer us human beings delightful companionship, but they are also known to be very resilient to any sort of trauma they experience in their lives. Their loyalty is second to none, living to exist with their humans and provide the love and companionship we all need in our lives.

Dogs are used in a variety of ways in our daily lives, from service dogs that work with police officers to those dogs that are trained to help anyone who is disabled or even experiencing emotional trauma. But for some dogs, life sadly does not always turn out so well for them. These dogs are unfortunately the ones that made their way into the homes and lives of people who treat them poorly. Many dogs are also used by people for dog fighting, which is illegal in the United States and considered a criminal act.

Bonnets for Abigail//Facebook

One such dog is a sweet three year old pit bull named Abigail. She was involved in dog fighting in her earlier years and unfortunately the pup lost her ear in the experience. After such a terrible encounter, Abigail was removed from the situation and taken in by Victoria Frazier from the Love is Fur Ever Dog Rescue, an organization that took her to get the medical treatment she so desperately needed. Veterinarians were able to save the dog from her injuries, by using skin grafts to heal the injury to the right side of her head. Not long after, that part of her head was exposed even though it had healed with time.

That’s when her rescuers had a genius idea: they covered her missing ear with beautiful headbands and hats! Her very fashionable look has become popular and gone viral over the internet, making her a big sensation!
