For a little girl named Scarlett, the secret to a good night’s sleep is her dog, a rescue pit bull that weighs 99 pounds. The Geiger family adopted said dog, named Lebowski, from the Priceless Pet Rescue four years ago when he was just a puppy. As soon as the puppy met Scarlett, the pair had an instant bond. Jennifer Geiger, who is Scarlett’s mom, says the pair first met when Scarlett was 4 and Lebowski was 10 weeks old. She was instantly drawn to him and his sweet little face and loved everything about her puppy brother. They both just had an incredible connection.
Lebowski would follow his human sister everywhere, and copied every move she made. The pair loved to play dress up, have tea parties, and even work on homework together. But their very favorite activity has never changed: they love to nap together. Since the moment Lebowski came home, he has curled up next to Scarlett to sleep. The family has found the pair fast asleep on the couch together countless times. When Lebowski was around 8 months old, he started to disappear at night. Jennifer says she would sometimes wake in the middle of the night in a panic because she couldn’t find the dog—only to realize he was sleeping under Scarlett’s bed.
Then, one night she went in to check on Scarlett only to find Lebowski in bed with her, snuggling and snoring loudly. Since then, the pair has always slept in the same bed each night. The two always just sleep better when they are together and it doesn’t much matter to them where they sleep, as long as they cane be together. Scarlett has a twin size bed, but that does not seem to bother them—they just want to snuggle and as long as that can happen, they are happy!
