We can all probably agree that dumping trash is a bad idea, both morally and for the environment. But in the case of a recent find in an area of Virginia called Prince George County, it just might have saved a life. You see, someone had apparently dumped a mattress on county property and someone was called out to investigate the situation. When the man arrived, however, he found both the mattress and a dog tied to a tree. The dog, whose name is Zeus, had a large bag of dog food nearby along with a very sad note. Animal Services was called to the area to help and found the dog, who is a lab and husky mix, very happy to see them.
The note said the following:
“My name is Zeus. I am a very good dog. My owner just can’t afford me anymore. She tried to find me a home, but nobody would take me. My birthdate is 07/15/15 I am still very young and energetic. I am good with kids and cats but I get scared when meeting new dogs. Please find me a good home to go to. P.S. Male husky/black lab mix he is fixed but not up to date on his shots. I am left with no other options for him. I hate to do this buy I just cannot afford him anymore.”
While it was clear Zeus was loved by someone, that person had simply dumped him in a remote area in the cold of February. He had no access to food or water, and fortunately someone found him before it was too late for him. Zeus soon found his way to the shelter and quickly won the staff over with his sweet, energetic personality. He soon found a home with a woman who had lost her dog recently named Katherine Elliott and he is the perfect fit for her and her children. He’s so happy—and safe now.
