Dog Helps Save Family from Fire

A pit bull named Sasha is now going by a new name thanks to her quick thinking: her family is calling her a hero. There is good reason for that honorable name, too. Sasha saved her family recently and they are so thankful she was there for them. Her story begins late on a Sunday night. That’s when Sasha’s owner, a woman named Latana Chai, was in bed in her home located in California. She was awoken by a loud sound and soon realized it was her dog Sasha, barking loudly and throwing herself against the back door. Latana realized that she her baby, who is just seven months old, were in real danger. Sasha had sensed something was wrong and did all she could to warn her owner.

Latana soon realized that Sasha was warning her about a fire, and she saw black smoke pouring from the neighbor’s home. The fire was very quickly spreading to Latana’s unit and she needed to get out as soon as possible. Sasha was so intent on helping her family escape the danger of the fire that she ran back into the bedroom and tried to pull the baby from the bed by her diaper. She was trying to help save her.

Latana jumped into action thanks to Sasha’s warning and quick thinking. She grabbed her daughter and her dog and ran outside to safety. Then she used her cell phone to call 911 for assistance. Firefighters soon arrived to put out the fire and Latana could not be more thankful that she escaped with her life—and the life of her baby and dog. The damage to the building was very extensive but thankfully all the residents were able to get out safely. Latana credits that to Sasha and her warning. She says Sasha is her hero and Latana is so thankful she was there for her and her family in such a terrible situation.
