A dog named Aaron is eleven years old. It is safe to say that for all the years he has lived on this planet, all of them have been spent being a good boy. His owners would agree that he has always been a good dog, but recently he became a good dog hero. He was out on a walk with his owner, a woman named Cynthia Kingdon, near their home in the state of Massachusetts. It was during that walk that Aaron became fixated on something and refused to move. Aaron wouldn’t move away from a storm drain in the road and refused to move even when his owner tried to pull him away. Even when Cynthia called him, Aaron would not move and even began to stare at her intently.
Since Aaron was so insistent, Cynthia thought perhaps she should stop and see what the fuss was all about. That’s when she peered down into the storm drain and saw what Aaron was worried about: there was a cat in the bottom of the drain. The cat was about ten feet below street level and was crying and clearly stuck in the drain. She knew she could not get the cat out herself, so she called the police to help the cat. That’s when neighbors began to gather and they realized the cat was actually a missing pet someone had recently lost and posted flyers about in the neighborhood.
The cat, whose name is Wiggles, had been missing for ten days. The cat had been down there so long that he had lost over five pounds and was certainly in a dire situation without food or water. An animal control officer and an agent from the local sewer department were able to free the orange and white cat. Everyone agrees that Aaron the dog is a true hero and was able to save the life of Wiggles the cat, thanks to his persistence.
