Dog has Waited 466 Days for Home

April Livingston | March 5th, 2019

A dog named Link has been through a lot in his life. Back in 2016, his owner took him to the vet and asked that he be put down. There was no particular reason to do so, and the vets refused. Instead, they contacted the RSPCA to see if the rescue group was able to take in Link and help find the dog a forever home. Link was so lucky that humans stepped in to save his life when his owner decided he needed to be put down for no particular reason at all. The RSPCA was happy to help him, but things haven’t been so great for poor Link.

Link has been at the RSPCA for quite some time and during that time he has been adopted a few times. However each time he’s adopted he has been returned by the family yet again. Those homes just weren’t the right fit for him and the shelter staff is very hopeful there is a perfect family out there for sweet Link the dog. Link is nine years old and has been at the RSPCA for over 466 days, even though he is a gentle and sweet dog that would be wonderful for a family. Potential adopters always look past him and the staff is not sure why. They think perhaps it’s his dark coloring, his age, or even his breed. Some visitors don’t even want to hear about him when they arrive at the shelter.

Link has some “quirks” that need work, but he is very smart and catches on to training quickly. He tends to pull on a leash and get excited, and is skittish about new noises and is terrified of being alone. He needs a family who can be patient and work with him on training for these issues. He needs to be the only dog in the home, but is good with kids. To learn more about Link, contact the RSPCA.
