A dog named Potate, or Tate for short, just loves her parents: a woman named Hailee Graham and her husband. Tate spent her life on the street before being rescued and then adopted by the couple. Today, his life is pretty great. It got even better recently when she met someone who you could say is her soulmate. That dog is named Vernon and he lives just next door to Tate. There is a tall wooden fence dividing the two yards, but Tate and Vernon still found a way to each other and spent just about every waking moment trying to meet. The pair even began to dig a hole under the fence to try to see one another in person.
Even when they tried to prevent them from digging, the two dogs just would not quit. At first, Hailee thought perhaps setting up play dates for the two dogs could be way for them to hang out without a fence in their way. But then she, had an even better idea: why not build a doggy door in the fence for Tate and Vernon?
That is exactly what they did with permission from their neighbors, Vernon’s owners. Tate’s dad used his woodworking skills to cut a hole in the fence and she waited patiently by his side as he worked. Once the doggy door was finished, she knew just what to do: Tate hopped through the door in the fence to join her pal Vernon in his yard to play. Tate and Vernon had never been happier, their owners say, now that they can hang out anytime they want—which is every single day. They take turns playing in each other’s yards and it is clear that a door in the fence was a great way to bring two friends together!
