For one lucky family in Idaho, there has been quite a miraculous discovery in the nearby mountains. This story begins in September, when summer had loosened its grip and fall weather was well on its way to the area. Before this influx of colder weather however, the family’s dog wandered away from their home.
A dog named Mo, who is a Chesapeake Bay Retriever and also quite elderly, wandered away while the Cameron family was on a hunting trip last fall. The older dog was with her family in an area known as Horseshoe Bend just north of the city of Boise, Idaho. After the dog wandered away, the family stayed in the area for over three months in an attempt to locate their lost dog. Eventually, the falling snow and extreme winter weather unfortunately stopped the family’s search for Mo the dog.
It seemed that hope had run out that the family would ever locate their family pet. However, a major stroke of luck changed everything recently. A starving dog collapsed on a nearby ranch and was taken in by a dog rescuer named Cheri Glankler. After looking at the dog she realized it had been living on its own in the wild for quite some time, based on its appearance. She posted photos of the dog to Facebook, where her family instantly recognized her.
The Cameron family was reunited with their dog Mo recently, who had lost her hearing and nearly half of her body weight during her nine month long ordeal. Mo the dog, who is fourteen years old, will take some time to recover, but she is now back with her family in Boise, Idaho where she belongs. Her instincts kicked in and she managed to survive in the wild for many months and is now back with her family again.
