A dog named Pacino had a very rough start to life. The pit bull was found in Camden, New Jersey in an abandoned home. His body was covered in deep, serious wounds and animal control rushed him to a local veterinarian for treatment. The officers who brought him in said Pacino was not only in terrible shape but also was too aggressive to handle. A vet tech named Brittany Elder was working that day and she saw potential in him. Pacino had been placed in a large crate and Pacino was cowering in the back, absolutely terrified and covered in blood. When he was taken out of the crate he was so weak that he just fell into Brittany’s lap. He was scared, shaking, and skinny and dirty. So, Brittany just sat on the floor of the vet’s office and held Pacino.
As she was holding him, animal control officers and the vet were discussing Pacino’s future. It was assumed he was used as a bait dog in a dog fighting operation, and his wounds were so bad it was going to be difficult and expensive to treat him. It was decided that the best course of action was to euthanize him—but Brittany was not going to let that happen. Pacino was in so much pain, but at one point he looked up at Brittany and licked her face, and she knew he wasn’t the aggressive dog they made him out to be.
Brittany decided she was going to take on Pacino’s care, and his wounds were cleaned. They were so severe that they couldn’t be stitched up—so a dozen drains were inserted all over his body. Brittany brought him home and it was clear he was abused in his early life, because he was skittish and terrified of everyone and everything. He bonded with Brittany and her boyfriend quickly however, and trusted them both. He made a complete transformation and has now lived with her for five years—and is a new dog!
