Dog Chained with Puppies Has a New Life

A dog named Morgan was abandoned in a South Carolina backyard when her family moved away and left her chained in the backyard. The heavy chain prevented her from moving and in the two weeks she was alone without food or water, she gave birth to eight small puppies. Finally, someone contacted the Rescue Dogs Rock NYV organization for help and the group took in Morgan and her puppies for foster care. It was there that they realized the extent of neglect Morgan encountered in her previous home.

Not only had Morgan just given birth, but she had bad knees, was emaciated and had bowed front legs that rescuers believe are from pulling on her heavy chain. Morgan, who is just two years old, had surgery on one of her knees but then was diagnosed with heartworms and had to wait on the second surgery to repair her other knee. Worse than that, Morgan was simply sad and heartbroken when she arrived in her foster home. She was a great mom to her puppies though, ensuring they were protected and well fed. Morgan is getting better too, healing from her ailments and learning to be happy and loved for the first time in her short life.

Her puppies were recently all adopted, but Morgan is still in need of a loving home after six months spent in foster care. Her foster family says she is very sweet and craves attention from every human she meets. She loves to stay close to her humans and likes to snuggle if given the opportunity.  Morgan does have some issues with separation anxiety, which her foster family is working hard to correct. Her history of neglect means it’s hard for her to be left alone. She is good with other dogs as long as they are her size (larger) and just needs someone to give her a chance. She’s available through the Rescue Dogs Rock NYC organization now!
