Dog Bullied by Other Dogs Finds Hope Again

While his exact origins are unknown, one thing is certain: Goldie’s life did not start out so well. There is certainly more of his story we don’t know, but this story begins in a small Texas town. Goldie the dog found himself there and a pack of dogs made sure he knew that he was not welcome there. He was discovered by rescuers underneath a mobile home and he was being attacked by several dogs. Once the attacks stopped, Goldie pulled himself under the mobile home to get away from the dogs. Animal control arrived to take him away, but he was understandably terrified. So, the officers had to drag him out to get him to safety. They immediately took him to the Corsicana Animal Shelter in Texas, but he was in desperate need of medical attention from a veterinarian.

Goldie’s body was covered in gashes and wounds from the attack all over his body. Even worse, he was in shock. He was taken to an emergency veterinarian who saved his life with plenty of antibiotics and quite a few stitches. The road to recovery was going to be long for Goldie the dog. After a few weeks of healing, he was transferred to a veterinarian’s office in Long Island, New York. This is where he really blossomed: his stitches healed and all of his thick, shiny fur grew back in again. Now all he needed was a home. The veterinarian posted his story and photos to social media, but no one stepped forward to adopt Goldie.

So, one of the volunteers from Rescue Dogs NYC stepped up to adopt him. She already had two pets at home, however: a dog and a cat. There was some concern that Goldie might be scared of dogs after his horrible ordeal, but he fits right in at their home and loves his new animal siblings.
