A woman named Banu Cengiz lives in Turkey and is a pharmacist by profession. She is also a lover of dogs. She has a rescue dog at home that she saved from the streets of Turkey years ago but doesn’t have the room for many other dogs in her home. So, she has set up a little spot for all the homeless dogs in the area to rest in front of her pharmacy. She cannot adopt them, but she knows she can at least help them in some way. Banu doesn’t do this for the attention or fanfare, she does it because she truly cares. But it seems the word had gotten out amongst all the homeless and stray dog in the area, and the know how much she loves them. But recently one of the dogs knew just who to go to when they needed help.
Banu was at work like any other day, but she noticed one of the dogs outside was acting oddly. Most of the dogs lounge outside on the beds she has set up for them, but one of the dogs was standing at the door to the pharmacy. She was looking through the door and seemed like she needed something. So, Banu approached the pup and let her inside. That’s when she noticed the dog had a problem: she had a cut on her paw that was bleeding. She needed help and she knew Banu was just the person to ask for assistance. So, Banu treated the dog’s wound with antiseptic and stopped the bleeding. Then, she gave her antibiotics to prevent an infection. The dog was very patient during the entire process, gently offering her wounded paw to Banu.
Once she was done with the treatment, the dog laid down and rolled on to her back for a belly rub, almost in her way of saying thank you. Banu allowed the dog to rest inside the pharmacy for the remainder of the day, so she had a peaceful safe place to recover.
