Dog “Asks for Help” Outside Local School

April Livingston | November 27th, 2018

Caleb Schaffer, a teacher in Houston, Texas arrived at school like he does every day. Once he arrived, a special visitor was waiting outside the school’s main doors: it was a dog. He was sitting quietly on the mat and his tail began to wag when he saw Caleb approaching. Caleb was in a rush to get to school, so he just walked past the dog and went into the building. But he couldn’t stop thinking about the pup, so he checked on him later that day, but he was gone. Someone had contacted animal control, but officers were not able to catch the dog. Luckily, the pup was waiting again the next morning when Caleb arrived to school. He was thrilled to see his friend again, and when Caleb got closer he realized the dog had a terrible skin condition.

He picked up the dog and put him in his car and took him home so his wife could watch the pup while he went back to school. Caleb then took the afternoon off from school so he could help the dog. Sadly, he couldn’t keep the dog because his apartment complex had a two dog limit and he already had two dogs of his own. He couldn’t find a rescue group to take him in either, so he took him to the Harris County Animal Shelter. While there, the dog received a medicated bath to help his skin condition. Caleb began posting about the dog on social media and even started a GoFundMe page to help for the dog, named Clive, and his medical expenses.

Clive’s life was saved by the Lucky Lab Rescue and Adoption group who saw pictures of him and agreed to take him in. Clive is now living with a foster family as his skin heals and his fur grows back. He will be up for adoption soon!
