A man named Timofey Yuriev has a dog named Kira. The pair are inseparable since Timofey adopted Kira last year and they just do everything together. They love to go on adventures and it turns out they are also a pair that jumps in to save lives when the time comes. That became all too clear recently when Timofey and his wife went for a walk near their home with Kira. The sun was setting and it was cold outside and they were walking near a lake that was covered in ice near their home in New York. It’s a very peaceful spot, but on that cold night things were very different. Timofey and his wife and his dog happened upon a terrible situation.
They heard a woman screaming across the lake and so they went to see what was going on. The woman had taken her dogs for a walk and the pups, two older Labradors, had tried to cross the icy lake. They got to a thinner patch of ice and they both fell into the water. The dogs began to struggle and get out of the lake but sadly were stuck. Timofey realized the dogs were in desperate need of help, so he jumped in to help. He removed his clothing and jumped into the freezing water and his loyal dog Kira jumped in too—they were going to rescue the dogs together.
Timofey jumped in and made it to the first dog, breaking up the ice so it could swim to the bank. Kira swam to the dog and touched her nose to the dog, guiding it back to safety. Then, he and Kira did the same for the second dog. The dogs made it to shore and seemed upset by the situation but were in good health. Their owner was so thankful and was in tears she was so moved by the experience. Timofey is so relieved the dogs are okay and so thankful that his dog Kira was there to show her bravery and loyalty.
