A family was moving from their home in Dallas, Texas. They threw all of their trash and unwanted items in an alley behind their house and that included their dog. The dog was left on the street with nothing but her blanket and then they left. The dog was dumped on New Year’s Day and the following day a woman named Marina Tarashevska who founded the Dallas DogRRR went for a walk. When she was perusing her neighborhood, she found the dog in the street, shaking and clinging to the blanket. It was a rainy, cold day in Dallas and the dog was just trying to stay warm. It was as though she was waiting for her family to come back and get her. Marina spoke to neighbors to learn more about the dog and heard the back story, and knew she had to help the dog. But rescuing the dog was not going to be an easy task.
Marina tried to approach the dog (and the blanket) but when she got closer the dog would run away. Once Marina left, the dog would go back to the blanket. So, that gave her an idea. She grabbed the blanket and took it down the alley toward her home. It took her an hour to get the dog to her backyard, but it eventually worked. The dog eventually came into Marina’s backyard and into the safety of a kennel, but the dog was absolutely terrified. The dog would not make eye contact and kept her head down and she even had wounds all over her ears and neck. So, Marina took her to a veterinarian.
The dog had an embedded collar, which means she probably spent her lift outside on a chain. Or, it’s possible she and other dog got into a fight over food, as there were many stray animals in the area. Regardless, she had surgery and is working on healing physically and emotionally, too. Eventually, she will be ready for adoption.
