Several people arrived at the same place they do each day during the work week: a carpool lot. But the day they arrived at the location in Nieuwegein, located in the Netherlands, they saw something quite out of the ordinary. Off to the side of the parking lot and on the edge of a wooded are nearby, there was a dog. Not just a dog, it was a dog that was locked inside of a dog cate and it was all alone without an owner or human to be found. The people immediately contacted the local police for help. Police quickly arrived on the scene and shared the same feelings of those who found the dog: they were shocked. The dog was quite confused but seemed to just be waiting for someone to help save her from her situation.
The dog seemed very friendly and happy to see people, so they freed her from her cage where she had been for who knows how long, waiting for someone to help her. She was so grateful to be out of the cage and finally free that she began wagging her tail and even leaping in the air with joy. Despite all she had been through, so was so happy to see people and showed no fear or aggression whatsoever. The police officers then brought the dog to a local animal shelter where it was determined that she was a two year old shepherd mix and did not have a microchip. So, it seems that whoever dumped the sweet dog in her crate had abandoned her and everyone was so confused why someone would dump such a sweet, loving dog.
The police department posted about the dog rescue on Facebook, where they said they have some tips they are working to find the dog’s owner and hopefully prosecute them for abandoning an animal. She is safe now and many people have stepped forward to show interest in adopting her.
