Dog Abandoned at Gas Station Now Works There

April Livingston | January 4th, 2018

For a dog named Negão, life as a gas station employee is a wonderful change from his earlier life. It is clear to all who enter the facility that he truly enjoys his life now, but things certainly did not start out that way for him. His story begins just two years ago, when a woman named Sabrina Plannerer purchased a Shell gas station with her partner. The station, located in a town in Brazil called Mogi das Cruzes, came with someone they were not expecting: a dog. He had been roaming around the area for some time, as he was abandoned by an owner at the location. Negão was just too scared to leave and perhaps even hoped his owner might return for him. Sadly, that never happened.

Instead of forcing the dog to leave or even turning him in to a shelter, they decided to help him instead. So, the couple adopted the dog and took him to the local veterinarian to get him the care he needed. He was de-wormed, vaccinated, and given a bath. They even purchased toys, food, a dog house, and a leash for some exercise opportunities. He was well on his way to a new life, but just one thing was missing for him: a job.

As the new owners of the gas station, Sabrina and her partner knew there was a place for him there. He received his own employee badge and even a hat to complete his uniform. His official job is really just as a greeter at the gas station, waiting patiently for patrons to arrive so he can say hello and even get a scratch behind the ear too. The couple says their visitors just love him and many of them bring toys and treats for him to enjoy. But more than anything, he just loves having a family and a job of his own!
